Sparklebox Teaching Resources
81Sparklebox Update
In January 2010, the owner of Sparklebox, Samuel Kinge (previously known as Daniel Kinge), was sent to prison for the second time for making and possessing indecent images of children. After his first conviction he was banned from teaching, put on the sex offenders' register and banned from using the internet, but he appealed and the internet ban was lifted to enable him to make a living. Further details can be found here.
Kinge set up the Sparklebox website which provided superb free classroom resources for teachers. Now that he has been convicted again, many local authorities in the UK have blocked Sparklebox so that it can no longer be accessed in their schools. Many teachers have started to take down the Sparklebox resources in their classrooms. As the site is supported by advertisements, Kinge will be earning money from Sparklebox even while he serves his prison sentence.
I have left the rest of this hub as it was originally, although I've removed the link to www.sparklebox.co.uk. I used to love Sparklebox resources, but now I am not sure whether I want to have anything to do with them. What do you think? Take a vote in my poll and you can leave a comment at the bottom of the page if you like.

Make your classroom sparkle with Sparklebox
I came across the Sparklebox site when I was looking for some teaching resources to help children learning to read. It's saved me lots of time and effort that I normally put into making my own teaching materials. All of the resources are totally free and can be downloaded immediately.
Why Sparklebox?
I think what really makes Sparklebox stand out among other teaching resources sites is the extremely high quality of the printable materials. Most of them come as PDF documents which makes them very easy to resize and print out. This contrasts with many of the other sites which only offer web pages which can be very difficult to print properly.
Although aimed at UK parents and teachers there are materials there which will be suitable for all Englsih-speaking countries. The topics include literacy (phonics and sight words), numeracy and lots of general interest themes, aimed at children under the age of 7.
They are high quality teaching resources for classroom teachers, parents and homeschoolers. I love the great ideas for creating an exciting and stimulating classroom environment by making colorful wall displays - check out the photo gallery to see what real teachers have done - they're truly inspirational.

Good Comment
the web owner / creator of sparklebox has just been sent to prison for downloading indecent images of children. this is not his first imprisoned offence. most schools have now banned spaklebox
I loved rescources and found them a great tool, however no one should be able to profit from this inexcuable behaviour.
I only recently discovered Sparklebox and it is fantastic.I have used lots of the resources for my French teaching (pre-school and primary). Of course it is dreadful what this man has done so I wish something could be done to enable teachers to still be able to access the resources without the guy profiting in any way atall. I have been trying to download some resources for my lessons this week which I had previously earmarked as being useful and now I cannot get hold of them so am wasting lots of time sourcing new materials with no success.
Helping this man in any fashion is a crime against those he harmed. There is no need to use anything that supports him in any way.
i won't use the site again!
Try here for some Primary Teaching Resources that will save you hours of planning and preparation time. Many of the resources are free!
The whole thing just makes me feel sick. I'll never use anything related to this site again. My guess is that he will set up another site though under a different name.
Voted NO - and what's worse he's now started up 'Twinkl', with almost exactly the same resources and toolbar. Wtf is he playing at, how dumb does he think people are.
Ita absolutely terrible what he has done but the resources are also helping learners alot. After reading this article I am so confused.
These are great resurces. I'll use the site, but never any of the advertisers.
Twinkl wasnt set up by him but by some of the artists who worked on sparklebox
